Hi everyone-
As many of you know, I am headed to South Africa November 9th through the 24th to speak at the South African National Blood Services Congress. I have had many people ask me about the trip, the blood center in Africa and, of course (since you all know I am a bit adventurous!) what types of things I will be doing while I am there.
I decided it would be a great idea to blog daily while I am there to keep everyone “in the loop” about the Congress and my adventures. I am going to do my best, depending on internet availability, to post daily so please feel free to ask questions and respond appropriately to anything you see or hear.
Until then, talk to you all on my first full day, November 10th!
Chris

Chris:
I always follow your adventures with interest. Youare the poster child of leaving the life you want to live!
I spent two amazing weeks in the Mafikeng, South Africa area (northwest province, just under Botswana). Most of our time was spent in the villages where we witnessed Aids victims, poverty among children and the desperation of a people forgotten. We have done wonderful work there including the building of a fresh water well, some housing, education opportunities, hospice care, the building of a church that is the center of the village of Molewane and other similar activities. This effort is led by an organization called Helping Hands in Africa and U.S. Churches, primarily in Arizona. I invite you to see what Helping Hands is doing at their website http://www.helpinghandsinafrica.org and to talk with their leaders, Pastor Mike Tessendorf and his wife, Michelle Tessendorf, who dedicate their lives every day to the underprivelaged of South Africa.
On a higher note we did go on a mini safari, visited Sun City and the spectacular and raw sites of this amazing country. Enjoy your time there.
Blessings,
Jerry

Christine,
It was great to see you at the Women’s Expo…as always you were inspirational. Thanks for getting my book and hope you get a chance to read some on the plane back and forth. Hope you find it inspirational to you. I am so jealous you’re in Africa!! (hope to get there myself some day soon). We’ll get together when you get back – I’m sure you’ll have plenty of cool stories.
Love,
Michele
